Child photography can be very rewarding, especially when the children play for the camera. These are a brother and sister I've worked with many times before, and they always take great pictures!

Scouting Locations and Portfolio

While I was scouting locations for a shoot, these train tracks caught my eye. The divergence between the tracks had me examining different angles and ideas. I added it to my portfolio, which is to say that I made a portfolio.

A portfolio is a frustrating thing to put together when photography is your side job. Going back a few months and realizing how much better you could have done with some of your shots is a mixed bag, both of missed opportunity and of recognizing your growth through experience.

I've got to say, I really like the way Google+ handles a photo gallery. The navigation and viewing is simple, fast, and elegant. Take a look...

Moved, now to take photos!

Moving is a pain, but I'm glad it's all done, and we're mostly settled into our new place. I've got a concept for a paint floating in my head, and the lines are sketched out onto the canvas already, just have to work out the color scheme. I also have some photo jobs this month so I needed to get the camera out and sharpen my skills. This is what came out of my experiments tonight:

Half Moon Bay

Camping at Half Moon Bay is a relaxing affair, and it inspired me to take some photos. Watching a child as she awaited the waves, and then turning to run away from the water with a huge smile on her face was great photographic fodder.

A&W reopens in Lodi

After being closed for roughly 2 months, an A&W employee was waving to passing cars, signaling the reopening of the restaurant. It was fitting that they reopen today, as thursday is the regular cruise night, and there were many on hand with their classics on display. They appear to be putting finishing touches on the restaurant before the Car Show this Sunday. Are you going to be at the A&W Classic Car show?

Abstract Photography

I was impressed by some abstracts I saw recently on the Critique 2 group on flickr. After seeing some of their explanations, decided that I needed to at least try it out.
